The what, who and how of working with a locum agency
So you’ve registered and you’re finally ready to take on the world of locum work, but with so many other locums looking to do the same, how do you give yourself the best chance of securing shifts?
Whether you’re a pharmacist or optometrist here are the simple steps you can take to make sure you’re getting booked into the shifts that take your fancy!
Working with a locum agency should be more than just using a platform!
As a Locum Agency for Pharmacists and optometrists It is part of our job to source you work, we aren’t just order fillers.
If you tell us the days you are free or the days you are looking for work, we can use this to source work for you!
Not only is it availability that’s important – it’s also preferences. Talk to us, tell us what and who you prefer working for.
Maybe you want to work for a small independent practice as opposed to one of the multiples because it fits you more. Or perhaps you have such an understanding of one particular system that you like working for the companies who use that system. Whatever your preference, we will help find somewhere that makes you feel the most comfortable.
Update your availability
We always recommend keeping your availability up to date, that way we won’t ask you to work a shift you when you’re off of your holidays, but we can offer you work when you’re available to take it!

Search for shifts, answer our calls, and check your emails
You don’t have to constantly be doing all three, we know you lot are busy bee’s, but when new shifts become available we notify our locums in three different ways; on our App, over the phone, and via email.
App – You can search for available shifts through our app and on our website. To do this you will need to log in, head to ‘Bookings’ and look for shifts on the ‘Search Vacancies’ Page.
Our busy bookings team sort through these applications every weekday morning so please allow 24 hours to hear back from them.
Phone – We will often give you a call about shifts when we can see that you are available on your calendar. This is why it is so important to keep your it up to date!
Email – We send out available shifts to our locums via email as soon as we get them, so you should always keep an eye on your emails as we receive new shifts throughout the day!
See a shift you like the look of? It doesn’t matter where you found it you can always give us a call on 0121 451 2707 to book it in. We’re available from 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 10am on Saturdays.
Make sure you’ve registered with our clients
You’ll need to register with some of our clients before we can book you into shifts with them. It’s worth doing this as soon as you get chance as this can sometimes take a few days to process. The handbook you receive with your welcome email will detail how each of our clients work however if you’re still unsure feel free to get in touch.
